9 April - London

A quieter morning was had by most as most should have organised their washing etc. In the afternoon we went to Lords. Lords is a fantastic place and being in a venue that has been a dedicated cricket ground for 200 year reveals that cricket has a significant place in England. The history and mystique of the ground certainly makes one feel that cricket is more than simply a game of 50 overs. The WG Grace gate, the long room and the changing rooms have seen the best players, including Bradman, Tendulkar, Hadlee, and it was a privilege to sit in the same rooms where they demonstrated their skills. Some are now looking at trying to gain membership, but the wait is long - about 28-30 years.

A quick training session was had in the indoor centre and we are now off to have dinner. Teams for the games tomorrow will be announced and it is certainly time to get the playing component back under way.
